AE 1 represents an excellent marker for distinguishing carcinoma from non-epithelial tumors. Tumors specifically detected: All epithelium-derived tumors.
Polypeptide reacting: Mr 40 000, Mr 48 000 and Mr 50 000 polypeptides of human epithelial proteins (keratins nos. K19, K16, K14) and most other acidic (type I) keratins.
Reactivity on cultured cell lines: MCF-7, A-431, RT 112
